Khamisa Kollektiv is proud to bring to you news of the MOPP exhibition (Month of
People's Photography) .
We wish to use this blog entery to provide you with more information
about our exhibition, as well as to inform you about us.
We run MOPP like a real
life grown-up gallery (without the gallery of course);
we acquire venues around the city
CBD that suit the content of photographers. The kollektiv is run by a group of young
photographers or photo-artists, presenting images ranging from social documentation,
portraiture, landscapes to abstract works.

Photography creates its own compartments. The photojournalist, the fine artist,the well paid celebrity,
the bohemian dreamer, the purist, the pragmatist,
the classical, the hypermodern, the uncropped image, the setup shot, the Gettys.
the majority world. the South. the North. the West. the developing world.
Red filters,green filters, high pass filters, layers, masks,
feathered edges, No photoshop,yes photoshop. Canonites, Nikonites, Leicaphytes, digital, analogue, SLR ,Happy snappy.
Anyway we impose no limits on your mind. However , its just a theme. So get
over it . Go round it. Think of it .Or climb on it. The important thing is that the
picture contains a statement. A picture should need no explanation and the
method should only create the effect. In that regard, We would say that there are no
limits as to the creation of a picture. THERE IS THREE WAYS OF EXHIBTING,1- doing cafe circuit 2-electronic slideshow(open for submissions until 19th Jan 2007, 3- street photo(pasting) zones will be noted soon. and thats that the theme is I SPY WITH MY 3RD EYE.

The fine print.
Send up to 15 original photographs (8x10 or smaller) or 300 PPI TIFF files on a CD.
All processes and techniques are welcome.
Please include your name and the title of the image in each file name.
Please do not use quotes (“ “) when naming your image files.
If you wish to have your submittal returned to you,
include a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE), otherwise your
work will be filed in the MOPP archive and will remain candidates for future issues.All rights stay with the photographer.
As a way to promote the photographers presented in the MOPP,
and to encourage dialogue between contributors, street
addresses, e-mail addresses and website URL’s are typically printed.
If you wish to have any or all of this information
withheld, please indicate that to us. Likewise, photographs selected for
MOPP may also be presented on the MOPP blogspot.
If you do not wish to have your work shown on this site, please say so.
Although reasonable care will be exercised in the handling of photographs submitted for review, MOPP is not held responsible for loss or any damage of submitted materials.
Submittal fees : 100.00 per photographer ( regardless of country)
WE are researching to make a Catalogue of the MOPP Story
we are inviting any writers, and all the previous exhibtors to write a 500 word
